Pune: A business competition dispute turned violent in Jadhavwadi, Chikhali, as one businessman opened fire on another, injuring two individuals. The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m.

Ajay Sunil Phule, 19, a gas stove repairer from Mohan Nagar, Chinchwad, was shot and injured. Another individual, Kirtikumar Bhiulal Lilare, sustained serious neck injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

The police have booked Harshal Bansi Sonawane (from Jadhavwadi, Chikhali), Shyam Chaudhary, and Kirtikumar Lilare under IPC Sections 307, 323, 504, 34, along with relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act and the Arms Act at Chikhali Police Station.

According to the police, Ajay and Harshal, who also run a gas stove repair business, had been embroiled in a bitter business rivalry for several months. This tension culminated in the violent confrontation on Sunday. Harshal, along with Shyam Chaudhary and Kirtiikumar Lilare, allegedly conspired to lure Ajay to Pantnagar under the pretence of resolving their dispute.

During the discussion, Harshal arrived at the scene and fired three bullets at Ajay. One bullet struck Ajay’s hand, while another hit Kirtiikumar Lilare’s neck.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police discovered that Lilare was being treated at a hospital in Morwadi. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Shyam Chaudhary in the Dehu Road area. Harshal Sonawane, the primary suspect, initially fled and switched off his mobile phone, evading immediate capture. However, he was later apprehended by a police team in the Nanekarwadi area near Chakan.

This violent incident has sparked fear among residents, especially with the voting process for Pune City, Shirur, and Maval Lok Sabha constituencies under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate scheduled for Monday. However, police confirmed that the shooting was unrelated to any political activities.
