13-year-old boy electrocuted after touching light pole in Lonavla

Lonavla : Policenama online – Pune Crime | A 13-year-old boy who had come out of a swimming pool after enjoying swimming, died after touching an electric pole while his body was still wet. The incident took place on Thursday at 8.30 pm in Crescent Bungalow in Tungarli area of Lonavla. This is the second such incident in the last fortnight. This has raised a question mark over the safety at swimming pools in Lonavla. (Pune Crime)
The deceased has been identified as Harun Masood Wali (13), a resident of Byculla in Mumbai. Mohammad Sajid Khan (56), a resident of Byculla, Mumbai informed the Lonavla police about the incident.
According to the police, Mohammad Khan and his relatives had arrived at Crescent Bungalow at Tungarli in Lonavla on Thursday afternoon. At 8.30 pm, Khan was swimming with his sister’s children. Harun, who was playing in the water along with other children, went out of the pool. He touched an electric pole which was near the pool.
Harun received a severe shock and he shouted very loudly. His relatives took him aside. Since he was unconscious, he was taken to a hospital but the doctors declared him dead on arrival. The Lonavla police were accordingly informed. The police are carrying out further investigation.
This is the second such incident which has happened in a swimming pool of a bungalow in Tungarli area of Lonavla. On July 13, a two-year-old boy had died after drowning in a pool. The second incident took place on Thursday.
This incident has brought under focus the security provided at swimming pools in private bungalows in Lonavla city and nearby areas.
