Pune : Policenama online  Pune Crime Branch Police |  A Nigerian youth has been arrested by the anti-narcotics cell of Pune city crime branch for possessing cocaine. The arrested Nigerian national was allegedly selling cocaine from his flat. A total of 160 grams of cocaine worth Rs 4,15,850 was seized from the arrested Nigerian national. The action was taken by the anti-narcotics squad of the Pune Crime Branch Police on Tuesday (27) at the Chaturshringi police station.

The arrested accused is identified as Shuaib Taofiq Owolabi (age 40, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, native of Nigeria). An anti-narcotics squad was patrolling the premises of Chaturshrungi Police Station. At that time, it was learned that a Nigerian citizen was selling cocaine on a public road in front of Annapurna Hotel in Baner. Based on the information received, the police set a trap and arrested Shuaib.

A case has been registered against the accused at Chaturshringi police station. Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Sujit Sunil Wadekar has lodged a complaint in this regard. The accused was produced in court. The court has remanded the accused in police custody till July 30. Further investigation is being conducted by Sub-Inspector of Police D.L. Chavan.

The action was taken under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Ravindra Shisve, Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Morale, Deputy Commissioner of Police Srinivas Ghadge, Assistant Commissioner of Police Surendra Deshmukh by Anti-Narcotics Squad I’s Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad, Pravin Shirke, Sujit Wadekar, Sandeep Jadhav, Rahul Joshi, Pravin Uttekar, Nitin Jadhav, Pandurang Pawar and Sandesh Kakadeya’s team.
