Bund Garden police bust interstate gang involved in stealing mobiles; 70 mobiles worth Rs 15 lakh seized


Pune : Policenama onlinePune Crime | The Bund Garden police have busted an interstate gang involved in stealing of mobiles by arresting five people and seized 70 Android phones worth Rs 15 lakh.


The accused have been identified as Vikas Waghere (22), a resident of Ashok Nagar, Yerawada, Aniket Laxman Kamble (20), a resident of Yerawada, Elison Wilson Pillai (19), a resident of Shastrinagar, Ghorpadigaon, Pune, Tejas Gulab Bate (27), a resident of Kirkitwadi, Sinhagad Road and Nikhil Ram Pujari (28), a resident of Dombarwadi, Pune.


Prashant Madhukar Neve, a resident of Ring Road, Bhusaval had lodged a complaint at the Bund Garden police station on February 4.


The complainant and his son Gaurav had arrived at Pune railway station on February 4 from Bhusaval. When Gaurav was booking a Ola taxi to go to a relative’s house in Hadapsar, two people on a bike came near him and the person riding pillon forcefully took away his mobile.



The police, after conducting a probe, arrested Vikas Waghere and Aniket Kamble. They revealed the names of their accomplices after questioning. They were arrested and 20 mobiles were seized from them.


The police questioned them about their modus operandi and the stolen mobiles. The accused admitted stealing mobiles from various parts of Pune city. The stolen mobiles were handed over to Nikhil Pujari who used to sell them to Shiva Pujari. Shiva Pujari used to send these mobiles to Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata by courier after getting instructions from a person named Kasim based in Gujarat.


Shiva Pujari was detained on February 10 from a lodge in Hadapsar and after questioning, he revealed that 50 mobiles had been sent to Mumbai some time ago by courier. The police traced the temp and seized 50 mobiles. The Bund Garden police have seized 70 mobiles worth Rs 15 lakh and arrested five people and exposed 17 cases.


The action was taken by a team of police officials including PSI Rahul Pawar, policemen Mohan Kale, Pratap Gaikwad, Nitin Jagtap, Sudhir Ghotkule, Sachin Bhingardive, Amol Sarde, Sanjay Vanve, Sagar Ghorpade, Kiran Talekar and Ankush Khansole under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Additional CP Rajendra Dahale, DCP Sagar Patil, ACP Yashwant Gawari, senior police inspector Pratap Mankar and police inspector Ashwini Satpute.
