Criminal detained under MPDA Act by Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta for illegally selling forest land
Pune : Policenama online – Pune Crime | A criminal who was involved in illegally selling forest land and government land in Wanawadi, Hadapsar and Kondhwa has been detained under the MPDA Act by Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta. This is the first time that action has been taken against a person who had cheated people and the government. (Pune Crime)
The criminal has been identified as Raj Gulab Shaikh (29), a resident of Indira Nagar, Handewadi Road, Hadapsar. He and his aides had committed serious offences like selling forest land in Wanawadi, Hadapsar and Kondhwa and other government land and seven offences like ransom, riots, harbouring illegal weapons etc were registered against him.
The life of local people and property was threatened by his illegal actions and created a law and order problem. Hence, Senior PI Deepak Lagad of Wanawadi police station and Senior PI Vaishali Chandgude had prepared a proposal. CP Amitabh Gupta examined the proposal and issued an order detaining Raj Shaikh for a year at Aurangabad Harsul Jail. In the last 18 months, CP Amitabh Gupta has detained 58 criminals under the MPDA Act.
