Pune : Policenama online – Pune Crime | A Hinjewadi-based person has conned Flipkart and Delhivery dot com of Rs 1.25 lakhs. The police got flummoxed by his modus operandi in cheating Flipkart. The Lonikand police arrested the accused while the court remanded him in 4-day police custody.

Sunilkumar Niranjanprakash Gupta (55), a resident of Hinjewadi, has been arrested after Kiran Malhari Kamble (30), a resident of Dhanori, lodged a complaint. The incident occurred near Ganga Hospital, Lonikand.

According to Seniro PI Gajanan Pawar, Gupta hails from North India and is jobless. He has been staying in Hinjewadi for the past some years. He cheated Delhivery dot com by using the same modus operandi.

He shopped on the Flipkart website on October 13, 2019. He ordered a golden ring on the website. Delhivery dot com delivered him the ring. He paid the money after the delivery of the ring to the delivery boy.

Later, he got a replica made of the golden ring and cancelled the online order. He returned the fake ring to the delivery boy and retained the original ring with him. He got his money refunded from Flipkart. However, the company found the returned ring to be fake.

Then Kamble lodged a complaint with the Lonikand police.

The police have recovered a fake aadhar card from Gupta. The accused has committed similar offences elsewhere by cancelling orders and replacing them with fake items while returning them, said Senior PI Pawar.
