Interstate gang arrested in chain snatching cases

Pune : Policenama onlinePune Crime | A team of unit 5 of crime branch has arrested an interstate gang involved in chain snatching by laying a trap. Six crimes have come to light after the accused were questioned and the police have seized goods worth lakhs of rupees from them. The police have arrested Sanjay Rambrij Sahani and Deepak Kumar Abhay Singh who are notorious criminals. (Pune Crime)

 

Incidents of chain snatching, bag lifting and vehicle thefts are increasing in Pune. A team of unit 5 of crime branch was searching for the accused in Hadapsar area. On Monday, a policeman came to know that two persons from Holkarwadi had stolen a Pulsar bike and they were moving about in Mantarwadi area after removing the front number plate.

 

The police laid a trap in Mantarwadi area and apprehended Sanjay Rambrij Sahani (21), a resident of Goharpur, district Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh and Deepak Kumar Abhay Singh (21), a resident of Modagol Vasti, Sitamarhi, Bihar but now staying in Holkarwadi, Haveli taluka. They were grilled and they admitted snatching two chains, lifting a bag and stealing three two-wheelers. Goods worth Rs four lakh were seized from them.

 

The arrested accused are notorious criminals and various cases are registered against them in different states. They used to go to a new state every year and used to do menial work. After doing a recce of a particular area, they used to commit crimes.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials including PI Hemant Patil, API Prasad Lonare, policemen Ramesh Sable, Daya Shegar, Pramod Tilekar, Akbar Shaikh, Vinod Shivle and Chetan Chavan under the guidance of CP Amitabh Gupta, Jt CP Dr Ravindra Shisve, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale, DCP Srinivas Ghadge and ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
