Pune Crime News | Four persons arrested for trying to extort ₹50 lakh from businessman

PUNE: Pune Crime News | The police have arrested four persons for demanding an extortion of ₹50 lakh from the owner of a company located in the limits of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station by making a WhatsApp call and for abusing him and assaulting him. It has come to light that three of them were working for him.

 

The arrested accused have been identified as Sourabh Sanjay Bansode (21), a resident of Ram Nagar, Warje Malwadi, Pavan Madhukar Kamble (22), a resident of Dhayari, Sanket Yogesh Jadhav (24), a resident of Narhe and Krishna Bhimrao Bhabat (19), a resident of Dhayari.
On May 6, 2023 at 8 pm, when the complainant was passing near Katraj Aryan School, the accused and his aides stopped him to extort ₹50 lakh. One of them threatened the complainant with a knife. The others assaulted the accused and abused him and threatened him. On May 12, 2023, the accused made a WhatsApp call to the complainant and demanded ₹50 lakh.

 

 

Later, DCP Smartana Patil, ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar guided a team of police officials including Sr PI Vijay Kumbhar, PI Vijay Puranik, API Amol Rasal, PSI Dhiraj Gupta, policemen Harshal Shinde, Sachin Gade, Dhanaji Dhotre, Sachin Sarpale, Shailesh Sathe, Chetan Gore, Nilesh Dhamdhere, Mangesh Pawar, Avdhoot Jamdade, Abhinay Choudhary, Nilesh Khairmode, Rahul Tambe and Vikram Sawant in arresting the accused.

 

When the accused were questioned, Sourabh Bansode, Pavan Kamble and Sanket Yogesh Jadhav were working in the complainant’s company for a few days. They knew how much money the owner carries with him and his travel route. After doing a recce, the accused stopped the complainant on May 6, 2023 and demanded ₹50 lakh. On May 12, 2023, the accused made a WhatsApp call and demanded ₹50 lakh. The Bharati Vidyapeeth police are carrying out a probe into the case and the involvement of more accused is expected to come to light.
