Pune Crime News | Lonavala Rural Police Seize 20 kg of Marijuana, Two Arrested in Illegal Drug Transportation Case

Lonavala : Pune Crime News | Lonavala rural police have made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to combat drug trafficking. Two individuals, identified as Ashok Bhujang Chavan and Shankar Bhagwan Salunkhe, were apprehended while transporting 20 kg of illegal ganja(Marijuana) on the old Mumbai highway. The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Satyasai Karthik, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Lonavala Rural.

 

Acting on a tip-off, the Lonavala Rural Police set up a trap at Varsoli on the Pune-Mumbai highway, where they intercepted a tempo suspected to be carrying ganja from Mumbai to Pune. Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered the contraband hidden inside. The seized ganja has an estimated street value of a significant amount.

 

A case has been registered against the arrested individuals at the Lonavala Rural Police Station. Further investigation is underway to determine the intended recipients and the exact destination of the illegal drugs. The Lonavala Rural Police, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Pune Rural Ankit Goyal, has been proactive in its efforts to crack down on drug-related offenses in the area.

 

This successful operation is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the police team, which includes Additional SP Mitesh Ghatte, Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik, Police Inspector Kishore Dhumal, Devidas Karande, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Yuvraj Bansode, and several dedicated police constables. Their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety is commendable.
