Pune Crime News | Two attacked a police sub-inspector with pepper spray when he was patrolling in Chakan

Pune: Pune Crime News | When a police sub-inspector along with his team was patrolling at Chakan area near a road leading to the bungalow settlement in Medankarwadi (Khed) area they chased the three persons who were roaming around suspiciously with the intention of stealing at night. During the chase the police caught the trio but they sprayed pepper spray in the eyes of the sub-inspector and injured him. The incident took place from Wednesday midnight till Thursday midnight. Chakan police have arrested two in the case based on the complaint from the sub-inspector.

The injured police sub-inspector has been identified as Amol Ramesh Dhere (47) a resident of Chakan. Dere lodged a complaint with Chakan police station. Based on the complaint filed by Dere the police have arrested Nihal Harppal Singh (35) a resident of Mumbai and Mangesh Laxman Gaikwad (32) a resident of Rahatani in Pune were arrested. A case has been registered against Sanjay Padwal whose address is not known.

Vaibhav Shingare, senior police inspector, Chakan police station said, “The Chakan police station sub-inspector Amol Dere along with his colleague was patrolling Chakan and Medankarwadi area at around 12 in the night on Wednesday. During patrolling they saw three people walking suspiciously near a pan shop in Medankarwadi area. On seeing the police all three of them hid near the pan shop. As the police suspected that they might have come there for stealing they questioned them further, the accused threw the pepper spray in Dere’s eye. Dere was injured in it. They obstructed the government employee. When police caught them and searched them they found a fake plastic pistol, pepper spray and a screwdriver. We have registered a case against all three under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections. Two accused have been sent behind the bars. We are also further investigating the case.”

The action was initiated against the accused under the guidance of Vaibhav Shingare, police sub-inspector Prasanna Jarhad and the team.
