Pune | Deccan Queen Express to undergo makeover soon
Pune : Policenama online The Deccan Queen Express train running between Pune and Mumbai will have a new look soon. Its speed will also be improved. Its new Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) compartments and dining car have been manufactured in the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai.
The new LHB compartments are likely to arrive in Mumbai in January. Thus, passengers will travel by the new-look Deccan Queen in New Year.
The Deccan Queen has a special status. Hence, the railway administration has not chosen the regular colour combination for its LHB bogies. Instead, a red-green colour scheme has been chosen for them.
The Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design has prepared its design since it is a ‘heritage’ train. The ICD, Chennai has manufactured 18 LHB coaches till date for the train. However, they have not arrived in Mumbai yet, said sources from Central Railway (CR). The train which has been running for over 90 years will thus become faster and safer.
