Pune | Man attempts suicide opposing metro railway work in Shivajinagar
Pune : Policenama online – Pune | A man reportedly tried to commit suicide protesting the ongoing work of metro railway in Shivjinagar area on Tuesday. The incident took place near the Kamgar Putala slum area.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner Ravi Khandare lodged a complaint at the Shivajinagar police station in this regard. Four people have been booked.
A metro railway station is being built in front of the Shivajinagar court. Residents of Kamgar Putala slum have been shifted to some other place. The PMC has made alternative arrangements for them. Kamble has a shop in the slum. Kamble and three others purportedly tried to resist anti-encroachment action on Tuesday afternoon.
Kamble apparently tried to end his life by banging his head against an iron pole. They allegedly tried to obstruct the work of civic workers. PSI Arvind Mhaske is investigating further.
