Pune: Out of the anger of his wife, who refused to live with him, a 51-year-old individual attempted suicide by pouring petrol on himself on the premises of the Mundhwa police station. This incident took place on Sunday, May 19, at around 3.30 p.m. In this regard, a police case has been registered against the concerned individual at Mundhwa Police Station.

The individual has been identified as Saudagar Uttam Kakade (51), and he is a resident of Keshavnagar, Mundhwa. Saudagar Kakade and his wife had an argument over Saudagar Kakade’s drinking addiction. Due to his drinking habit, his wife left the home by refusing to live with him. After that, Saudagar lodged a missing complaint about his wife at Mundhwa Police Station.

However, within a few days, Saudagar’s wife herself came to the police station and told the police officials that she did not want to live with her husband anymore as he was harassing her after drinking alcohol.

Saudagar was angry about this. He was repeatedly going to the police station, requesting police officers to find his wife and asking her to live with him. He then threatened the police with suicide. He also called the police control room and threatened to commit suicide.

On his request, Mundhwa police once called him and his wife to the police station to settle their arguments. However, at that time, his wife again refused to go with the accused. Enraged by it, Saudagar shouted, abused his wife, and left the police station.

After coming out of the police station, Saudagar tried to commit suicide by pouring petrol from his bike on him in the police station premises. As soon as police officials noticed it, Police Sub-Inspector Mahadev Linge, Assistant Police Inspector Annasaheb Tapre, Police Constable Kokane, and Female Police Constable Jadhav and Bhosure rushed and took away the petrol bottle from the hands of the accused.

On the police complaint of PSI Mahadev Linge, Mundhwa police registered a case against the accused under IPC 309, 285, 504, and 506 for creating havoc within police station premises. Assistant Police Inspector Mali is conducting further investigation in this case.
