Pune : Policenama online Pune Metro | In the first phase of the Pune Metro project, the stretches from Vanaz to Garware College and Pimpri to Phugewadi have been started. Now, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited i.e. MahaMetro is going to make all efforts to complete the 33.1 km route by March 2023. Earlier, the deadline was December 2022. However, the deadline has been extended because of the corona epidemic.

PRO of MahaMetro Hemant Sonawane said that the final deadline for completing the 33.1 km route of the Pune Metro is March 2023 and various plans have been made to complete the same. If any unforeseen event takes place, then the project may be slightly delayed.

Line 1: PCMC to Swargate: On the 17.4 km stretch, there are five underground stations and nine elevated stations.

Line 2: Vanaz to Ramwadi: On this 15.7 km route, there will be 16 elevated stations.

The work of stations at PMC, Deccan, Sambhaji Garden and Civil Court is going on at a fast pace. The work of some stations may be completed early or it may be delayed. However, we are working as per our final deadline, Sonawane said.

On Friday, two months were completed after the launch of Pune Metro. In the first month, many people travelled by Metro but the number of people travelling by the Metro has reduced. More people are travelling on the weekend compared to weekdays. People staying close to Metro stations have started using Metro for their professional work. After expansion of the metro, the number of travellers will increase, Sonawane said.
