Pune: Minor is Kalyani Nagar hit-and-run case should be treated as an adult: Police
Pune: The Pune Police have filed an application in the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) that the child in conflict with law (CCL), the minor son of builder Vishal Agarwal, should be treated as an adult.
The Agarwal family has also submitted an application in the JJB demanding back the Porsche car involved in the accident and the CCL’s passport. The two applications will be considered by the court on September 26.
To treat the CCL as an adult, it was mandatory for the police to file the charge sheet within 30 days after the CCL was presented before the JJB.
The CCL granted bail as the police did not file the charge sheet within the stipulated period. The CCL’s parents, Vishal and Shivani Agarwal, doctors from the Sassoon Hospital, Dr Ajay Taware and Dr Shrihari Halnor, and their accomplices are in judicial custody in the exchange of blood samples of the CCL case.
Two IT engineers died in the accident on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, in which the CCL was driving the car under the influence of alcohol at a very high speed and hit the bike-borne engineers. The CCL’s family has now sought back the car and the minor boy’s passport. A hearing on this application was scheduled for August 28. It has been postponed now. The applications of the police and the CCL’s family will now be examined on September 26.
