Fifteen students had applied to get admission from the management quota to the Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee Medical College of PMC. The fee for securing admission through the admission process approved by the government is ₹22.50 lakh. However, Banginwar had demanded ₹16 lakh from the parents of a student. Hence, the parents of the girl student had lodged a complaint with the ACB. After the complaint was verified, the ACB laid a trap and arrested Banginwar red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh. The ACB is carrying out a probe.

Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar registered his protest by writing ‘A thief sits in the car’ on Banginwar’s car. The District Chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena, Ashish Sable Patil led the activists and garlanded Banginwar’s name plate with a symbolic garland of money. MNS activists also vandalised Banginwar’s office.

Ashish Sable Pail said, “Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee Medical College has been started by the PMC to provide medical education to students from ordinary families. Now since this incident of Ashish Banginwar taking a bribe has come to light, irregularities of lakhs of rupees may have taken place. Hence, the ED should conduct a probe into this case.”
