Pune News | Guardian Minister Chandrakantdada Patil Takes Bold Step to Curb Thefts at Omkareshwar Ghat
Pune News | Pune’s sacred Omkareshwar Ghat, known for hosting the heartfelt Dashakriya rituals, has faced a series of unfortunate theft incidents, leaving the priests and citizens concerned about security. However, taking swift action to address these concerns, Guardian Minister Chandrakantdada Patil has spearheaded an initiative to bolster security measures at the ghat. Today, the newly installed CCTV cameras, made possible through public participation, were inaugurated, marking a significant step towards curbing thefts and ensuring the safety of devotees.
Dashakriya is a sacred Hindu custom performed on the tenth day after a person’s passing, where prayers for the departed soul’s salvation take place along the banks of the Mutha river, near the revered Omkareshwar temple in Pune. Sadly, the peaceful ambiance of these rituals was being marred by recurring incidents of thieves stealing Dashakriya ritual materials from the ghat.
The concerned priests have long been urging for improved security arrangements and the installation of CCTV cameras to deter these unfortunate thefts. Responding to their pleas, Guardian Minister Chandrakantdada Patil took decisive action, making the CCTV project a reality through public cooperation.
During the inaugural ceremony, the priests expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to Namdar Chandrakantdada Patil for his proactive approach in safeguarding this sacred space. The newly operational CCTV cameras will serve as vigilant sentinels, deterring potential wrongdoers and ensuring the ghat remains a safe and peaceful place for the community to perform their religious rites.
Joining the Guardian Minister in this endeavor were Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Singh Gill and various office bearers and workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The occasion was graced by BJP State Spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar, Kunal Tilak, BJP Kasba Mandal President Pramod Kondhare, Rajesh Yenpure, Hemant Rasane, Rajendra Kakade, Rani Kamble, Sanjay Deshmukh, Dhananjay Jadhav, Amit Kank, and many other dignitaries.
With the CCTV cameras now in operation, the Omkareshwar Ghat will witness increased security, providing a sense of peace and tranquility to those participating in the Dashakriya rituals.
