Pune News | Property owners will have to pay hiked property bills as PMC issues bills sans 45% concession

Pune : Policenama onlinePune News | The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) cancelled the 45% tax concession granted in property tax from April 1, 2018. The Property Tax Department has issued notices to 80,000 property owners in this regard.

 

The property owners who have been paying property tax with the 45% concession for the past 52 years will be affected by this decision.

 

Around Rs 4,000 property tax has been increased for those who own up to 500 sq ft and live at the same property. The property owners who have been paying Rs 10,000 property tax will have to pay Rs 4,500 more. The tax amount varies as per the location and size of a property.

 

Since the property tax receipt were issued without factoring in the concession from April 1, 2018, they will now have to pay Rs 15,000-Rs 18,000 per 500 sq ft. Many property owners have submitted applications requesting reduction in the increased property bills. They also wanted to know why their bills had gone up. However, civic officials clarified that the bills have been issued without the concession as per the state government order.
