Pune Crime News | Accused in cheating case, wanted by Mumbai police, arrested by Pune Crime Branch officials in Somwar Peth

Pune: In a significant breakthrough, the Anti-Extortion Squad One of the Pune Police Crime Branch successfully apprehended a fugitive who had been on the run for two years after being booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The accused, identified as Sidram alias Abhi Ramesh Manjili (24), was arrested by police from Solapur, culminating in an intensive search operation spanning multiple jurisdictions.

The accused, who had been absconding since facing charges under IPC sections 307, 504, 506, and 34, along with offences under the Arms Act, was elevated to the purview of the MCOCA Act due to the gravity of the charges against him.

While continuously searching for the accused, a few days ago, Police Sub-Inspector Yashwant Ombase received actionable intelligence indicating the presence of the accused in Solapur. Confirming the accountability of the information, police officers under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector Yashwant Ombase went to Solapur and detained the accused by setting a well planned trap at Balaji Chowk in Solapur.

Following the apprehension, the accused underwent a medical examination and was later handed over to the Warje police station for further interrogation and legal proceedings.

The successful arrest was made possible through the concerted efforts of Police Constables Sayaji Chavan, Amol Awhad, Rajendra Landage, and Amar Pawar, all operating under the guidance and supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Amol Zende, Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime-1 Sunil Tambe, and Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil of Anti-Extortion Squad 1.
