Influential cop attached to Bharati Vidyapeeth police station suspended for relations with people in illegal businesses
Pune : Policenama online – Pune Police | An influential policeman has been suspended for keeping in touch, directly or indirectly, with people involved in illegal businesses. This action was taken against the cop for dereliction of duty and dishonesty.
The suspended policeman, Raju Dhondiba Vegre, is attached to the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. DCP Sagar Patil took the action. An order in this regard was issued late on Wednesday night.
CP Amitabh Gupta and Joint CP Dr Ravindra Shisve have clarified that illegal businesses will not be tolerated within the jurisdiction of Pune police. If such activities are seen on the premises of any of the police station, such incharge officers will be held responsible. Some people were collecting money in the name of senior PI. This was highlighted in a ‘Policenama’ report, indirectly mentioning the name of the suspended policeman. Later, the top police officer took details about the cop.
It was proved that Vegre was in touch with people doing illegal activities. The top police officers inquired into the matter and took action. DCP Patil suspended Vegre.
