Monsoon arrives: Khadakwasla dam starts receiving rainfall

Pune: Policenama online  – Pune Rain | The farmers and the citizens had something to cheer for on Friday as it has started raining in the city. The Khadakwasla reservoir which supplies water to Pune city has started receiving rains from Friday. In Panshet, Temghar, Varasgaon and Mulshi dams, there was little rainfall in June. It started raining heavily on Friday for the first time. The rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours is equal to half the rainfall in June.

Mulshi: 47 (114) mm

Temghar: 38 (103) mm

Varasgaon: 20 (101) mm

Panshet: 21 (107) mm

Khadakwasla: 4 (21) mm

Gunjavani: 28 (126) mm

Pavana: 27 (70) mm

 

Since the storage of water has reduced very much in the Khadakwasla dam, the PMC has announced that water will be supplied on alternate days from Monday. Last year, there was 8.61 TMC water storage in the Khadakwasla dam. Today, there is only 2.55 TMC water storage in the dam. If it does not rain heavily in the next few days, the water cut in the city is likely to continue for a few more days.

 

It started raining in Pune city from Thursday night. The rainfall recorded till 8.30 am on Friday is as follows.

 

Shivajinagar: 7.8 mm, Pashan: 10.1 mm, Lohegaon: 3.2 mm, Chinchwad: 8.5 mm, Lavale: 13.5 mm and Magarpatta: 6 mm
