Pune | Robbers run amok in Ratnapuri and Anthurne areas of Walchand Nagar

Walchand Nagar (Pune district): Policenama online –  Unidentified persons looted two houses in Ratnapuri and Anthurne areas in Indapur taluka and decamped with Rs 1.5 lakh, 14 tolas of gold and silver ornaments.

 

They also beat up former director of Karmayogi Cooperative Sugar Factory Rajendra Gaikwad and this has terrorised the residents.

 

According to the police, on Monday early morning, six robbers entered the bungalow of former director of Karmayogi Cooperative Sugar Factory Rajendra Gaikwad by breaking the door. Gaikwad’s wife Sunanda woke up after hearing the noise. The robbers told her to hand over cash and valuables from the cupboard. She handed over cash of Rs 1.5 lakh, gold ornaments of 11 tolas and silver ornaments.

 

Rajendra Gaikwad woke up and tried to resist the robbers but he was beaten up by a stick and was assaulted with sharp weapons which caused an injury on his forehead.

 

Since, the residents of nearby houses woke up due to the noise, the robbers escaped with the booty.

 

They also looted the residence of Malhari Wagh in Anthurne and took away three and a half tolas of gold ornaments and Rs 6,000. The Baramati sub division police officer Ganesh Ingle visited the area after being informed of the incident.

 

The API of Walchand Nagar police station Birappa Lature is carrying out the investigation.
