Pune: A fatal accident occurred late last night at Kharadi Jakat Naka on the Pune-Ahmednagar Highway when a speeding truck collided with a two-wheeler, resulting in the deaths of two college students and injuring a third. The incident took place around 10:30 PM, according to police reports.

The students, originally from Latur and studying in Wagholi, were identified by the police. The truck driver, Shyambabu Ramphal Gautam, was driving towards Chandannagar when he struck the motorcycle stopped at the Jakat Naka traffic signal.

The impact of the collision threw the three riders from the motorcycle. Two of the students died instantly, while the third sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital. One of the deceased has been identified as Adil Sheikh; the identities of the other victims are yet to be confirmed.

Police detained Gautam at the scene and took him to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
