Pune: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has now allowed film shooting inside its campus for the first time since the Covid-19 outbreak started in the city. The shooting will take place on Wednesday (October 28) for the film ‘Nail Polish’.

The SPPU had closed down its entire campus after the lockdown was announced in March month. All hostels were also vacated and students had gone at their native places during the lockdown. After the unlock phases began, limited operations were allowed by the Pune University administration. Now it has given permission for a film shooting inside the campus for the first time since the lockdown happened.

Pune University campus has been used frequently for film shooting during the pre-Covid times. Several production houses had also erected their sets for the recording purposes. But considering the gravity of the situation post-Covid-19 pandemic situation, it is surprising that the Pune University has given permission for a film shoot.

Some scenes from the film Nail Polish will be shot in front of the main building of Pune University. A deposit amount of Rs 5 lakh has been taken from the producers of the film. A rent of Rs 25 thousand per hour has been charged to the production house.

Set to release on an OTT platform, Nail Polish film is having a Bollywood star cast which will be present during the shooting of scenes in front of the main building. They will have to follow all guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) laid down by the local and district administration.

Following social distancing norms and avoiding unnecessary crowding during the shoot are the major challenges before the university administration and police.
