Pune: On the occasion of the second memorial day of late MLA Vinayak Nimhan, the Someshwar Foundation has announced the ‘Vinayaki Vinayak Nimhan Gaurav Scholarship’ for talented and financially disadvantaged students in Pune. The scholarship is intended to support students whose parents are facing financial hardships. Eligible students from Pune city can register for the scholarship until October 15, 2024, on the website www.sunnynimhan.com.

The registered candidates will be called for an in-person interview on October 18, 19, and 20, 2024, at the Someshwar Foundation Office, located at 448, Gopi Bhavan, Shailaja Hotel Lane, Shivajinagar, Pune-5. The distribution of the scholarship will take place on October 26, 2024, at Balgandharva Rangmandir on Jangli Maharaj Road, in the presence of prominent dignitaries.

Last year, 368 deserving students were awarded the Gaurav Scholarship, and the foundation plans to continue offering this opportunity to students this year as well. In addition, an incentive scholarship will be provided to students who appeared for the Class V and VIII scholarship exams but missed qualifying by a few marks. This scholarship is meant to encourage perseverance and recognise their efforts.

The Gaurav Scholarship is available to students pursuing diplomas, ITI courses, and degree programs in fields such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Management, Law, Journalism, and more, provided they meet the required financial and eligibility criteria.

The late MLA Vinayak Nimhan gave special importance to the health and education sectors. He also opined that “If a person gets good health and education, it gives him the strength to face any crisis.” The Someshwar Foundation, under his guidance, has been involved in a variety of social activities, including initiatives in art, sports, literature, and education. For the past 25 years, the foundation has organised activities such as exam preparation lecture series, felicitation of meritorious students, and career guidance for Class 10th and 12th students. It also distributes free school supplies to needy students annually.

In line with its principles, the Sahyadri International School and Junior College in Kothrud and Pashan, established by Vinayak Nimhan in 1999, offers education under the philosophy of “No Donation, No Deposit,” benefiting numerous students over the years. Additionally, the Someshwar Foundation was set up to carry out broader social welfare programs.

Someshwar Foundation has also made significant strides in healthcare over the years. The foundation organised the ‘Karyasmrat Free Maha-Arogya Camp’ in Pune over the last two years, offering free medical check-ups and surgeries. The camp, which drew nearly half a million patients in the last two years, provided treatment from world-renowned doctors and free medical tests and surgeries, offering immense support to the needy. Sunny Vinayak Nimhan shared these details, accompanied by Foundation members Bipin Modi, Umesh Wagh, Amit Murkute, and Aniket Kapote.
