Rainfall predicted in Maharashtra from Thursday for four days

Pune : Policenama online –  Cold weather conditions prevailed in Marathwada, Vidarbha and north Maharashtra in the past few days. Temperatures have now increased a bit in the State. Weather conditions are conducive for rainfall now.

 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall accompanied with a thunderstorm at many places in the State from Thursday. The met office issued a yellow alert in many districts as rainfall is likely to occur for the next four days in the State.

 

On Thursday, skies will continue to remain cloudy in Dhule and Nandurbar districts. Light showers are predicted at isolated places in these districts. Rain activity will intensify gradually after January 7 in Maharashtra.

 

 

On Friday, sporadic showers may happen in Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon and Ahmednagar districts. Later, heavy rains, along with thunderstorms, are likely to take place in north Maharashtra, north Konkan, Marathwada and Vidarbha on January 8-9.

 

Rainfall to intensify at the weekend

 

A yellow alert has been issued in Buldana, Wardha, Akola, Nagpur and Amravati districts on January 8. Rainfall is predicted in Thane, Palghar, north Maharashtra and Marathwada. On Sunday, a yellow alert is issued in the districts of Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli. It may rain heavily, along with thunderstorms, in these districts.

 

Westerly winds’ influence has lessened in North India. As a result, rainy conditions are prevailing in Maharashtra. Farmers are worried about possible rain in the middle of winter. Vidarbha and Marathwada witnessed hailstorms last week at many places. Standing crops were damaged.
