PUNE : Policenama online  – Pune Crime Accident News | A dumper hit a two-wheeler on which a couple was travelling to go to their native place for agriculture work. The driver of the dumper dragged the two-wheeler and the couple for some distance. The couple, which was seriously injured, died on the spot. The accident took place at 1 pm at Kesnand Phata at Wagholi on Wednesday. (Pune Crime Accident News)

 

The deceased have been identified as Ashok Martand Kale and Varsha Ashok Kale, both residents of Kasba Peth. The driver of the dumper, Bhaskar Pandharinath Kand (51), a resident of Lonikand disappeared after the mishap. Ashok Kale had retired from the police service and was paying attention to agricultural work and his wife was a home maker. The couple was going to its village Valki in Rahu taluka when the mishap took place.

 

According to the police, the Kale couple was going to their village Valki for agricultural work. At Kesnand Phata, they were taking a turn towards Rahu Road. At that time, a speeding dumper which came from behind, hit the two-wheeler. The mishap was gruesome and the dumper dragged the two-wheeler and the couple for some distance. The couple died as the wheels of the dumper went over their heads.

 

After they were informed about the mishap, officials and policemen from the Wagholi police chowki rushed to the spot. The bodies of the couple were sent to a hospital. Meanwhile, there was a huge traffic jam on the highway. The accident took place at the signal and the vehicle drivers reduce the speed of their vehicles before the signal. Witnesses said the mishap took place because the dumper was travelling at high speed. The police are investigating the case.
