Sanjay Raut Suggests Amit Shah to Curb Social Media Army
Mumbai: Recently, BJP was accused of creating 80,000 fake accounts overnight to defame Mumbai Police and Maharashtra government by spreading lies and suspicion in SSR case. On this, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday, in his weekly column ‘RokhThok’ in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said Union home minister Amit Shah should rein in fake social media accounts and warned that an “illegal use” of social media-army can backfire on the government.
Sanjay Raut exclaimed Amit Shah must take the initiative to clean up social media dummies starting from his own party, the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Raut warned in the column, “Amit Shah should take responsibility as he is the home minister and should acknowledge that the illegal use of cyber army can be destructive for the country and society. The use of cyber to do character assassination of opponents can backfire on the country,”
“The national policy for the BJP is to use the social media army and incessant attacks on its opponents. This is reflected in the last two elections. BJP won the general elections with the help of social media. The intense and poisonous campaign was implemented”. The campaign projected all other leaders including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and former prime minister Manmohan Singh as “useless” in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, added Raut.
Raut also emphasized on the statements uttered by Amit Shah in his speech at an event. He said, Amit Shah once said — we can make news acceptable through our thousands of WhatsApp groups. “The confidence is good for a party chief but he should not forget that he holds the reins of the country today. The social media, that found Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh to be useless, also made fun of our prime minister after a video of him seated in an army jeep. This is not right,” added Raut
Raut went on, “currently, 5 crore such fake accounts are active, such illegal activities need to be put to a stop by the help of law and that the Home Minister should play a vital role”.
