Schools in Pune will re-open for students of standard 1 to 7 from December 16, says PMC chief
Pune : Policenama online – Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar said today that the schools in the city will re-open from December 16. The Pune Municipal Corporation had earlier decided to keep all schools in the city closed from standard one to seven because the children have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus. This decision had been taken after many cases of Omicron variant were found all over the world and countries like Germany and Austria have declared a lockdown.
The state government had announced that schools will re-open on December 1 for students of standard one to seven. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had urged everyone to be alert because of the fast spread of the Omicron variant. Many schools had made preparations to re-open the schools after Education Minister Rajesh Tope had announced that there will be no change in the decision.
However, the Mumbai civic body had announced that schools in the city will not re-open from December 1. The PMC had announced that schools will remain closed till December 15.
