Seven arrested for defaming Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue, suspects plead guilty

Policenama online Team – An incident that recently happened in Bangalore where some people have desecrated the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has sparked a wave of outrage across the country. Agitations were staged at many places demanding strict action against the culprits. Meanwhile, police have arrested seven people so far in this case, and the suspects have confessed to the crime.
The police investigation has revealed that the social activist who defaced the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj belonged to Randhir Sena in Karnataka. The arrested suspects confessed to pouring ink on the statue of Shivaji Maharaj to protest against the burning of the red and yellow flag by the people of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti.
DCP of Bangalore Central Division Anuchet said that five people were arrested on Saturday evening and two were arrested on Sunday morning. The vehicles and materials used by them have been seized by the police. Other persons involved are also being searched. Sadashiv Nagar police are investigating the matter further.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Chief Minister has made a shocking statement amid outrage over the incident. “The desecration of the statue is a small thing”, said Bommai. Anger is being expressed against this statement of the Karnataka Chief Minister.
