Pune: Policenama online – Pune Crime | A man got acquainted with a girl on jeevan saathi dot com and proposed to her by sending a shagun from the Netherlands. The software engineer, who tried to get it released from the customs, was cheated of Rs 11 lakh 16 thousand by cyber crooks. (Pune Crime)
A 29-year-old girl has lodged a complaint with the Vimantal police station. The incident took place from February to June 24, 2022.
According to the police, the complainant is a software engineer. She had enrolled on jeevan saathi dot com to look for a life partner. She got acquainted with a man. They were in touch via WhatsApp calls. The man told her that he was based in Holland and was ready to marry her. He told her he had sent her a shagun. In February, she got a call from a number which was showing as custom. She was told that there was a parcel for her and she was told to pay money by giving different reasons.
The complainant got carried away and she went on paying money. However, she did not get the parcel even after paying
Rs 11 lakh 16 thousand. She realised that she had been cheated and has lodged a complaint with the Vimantal police.
