The city’s municipal corporation said in a statement that vaccine doses could not be given at 26 of the 71 centers approved for vaccination because vaccines were not available at these private health centers.

A BMC statement said that vaccine doses were given at the rest of the centers but vaccines are available for only one day and the corporation is constantly trying to make the vaccines available.

A total of 120 vaccination centers are being run in Mumbai, out of which 49 are being operated by the Maharashtra Government and BMC. The statement said that 40,000 to 50,000 people are given vaccine doses every day at these centers.

At the same time, Principal Secretary (Health) Pradeep Vyas said that till Wednesday morning there were about 14 lakh vaccine doses in the state. In many districts, the stock will be over by today or tomorrow. The Center is aware of this and we have told them in writing.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that there is only three days of vaccine stock left in Maharashtra. He said that apart from this, there is also a shortage of oxygen cylinders in the state. Health Minister Tope said that most of the immunization centers in Maharashtra do not have adequate doses of vaccine. Right now we have only 14 lakh doses of the vaccine, which will suffice for barely three days.
