Situation in Kolhapur critical: Fadnavis

Mumbai, Policenama Online –  Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday said that Konkan and Western State have received very heavy rainfall and the flood situation in Kolhapur region is critical.The chief minister also said that the State received 104 per cent average rainfall between June and August this year, however, Marathwada and parts of Vidarbha are facing rainfall deficiency.

The chief minister has announced compensation of Rs 10,000 in rural areas and Rs 15,000 in urban areas to the flood-affected people.

The CM has taken a break from his statewide ‘Mahajanadesh yatra’ to review the flood situation in the State.

Over 1.32 lakh people have been shifted to safer places in Western Maharashtra with flood situation remaining grim in Kolhapur and Sangli districts.

Over 45 boats have been deployed for evacuation purposes. All the dams in the region are over flowing.

The CM informed that twenty-two NDRF teams are involved in the rescue operations. CM has also directed immediate survey of crop damage in the flood-affected areas. CM was speaking to reporters in Mumbai.
