Pune : Policenama online –  The exams of about 6 .5 lakh students studying in colleges in Pune, Nashik and Ahmed Nagar districts affiliated to the Savitribai Phule University of Pune are being held through the online mode since the last two years. (SPPU)

In the last few months, the coronavirus situation was in control and the colleges were conducting regular classes by following all COVID-19 norms. However, the cases of Omicron variant have increased in last one month. No decision was taken in a meeting of the exam department. A committee of four experts has been appointed to suggest whether the exam should be held in the online or offline mode.

The meeting of the committee was going to be held last week. However, it could not be held due to the indefinite agitation by non-teaching staff. The exams of colleges to be conducted by SPPU are scheduled in last week of January. The students should know one month before the exam whether they will be in the online or offline mode.

It is expected that after the withdrawal of the stir by non-teaching staff, a decision is likely to be taken on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Some student organisations are demanding online examinations but officials of the exam department are in favour of offline examinations.
