UP: Notorious elements vandalise Dr Ambedkar’s statue
Sonbhadra (UP), Jan 18 (UNI) – A statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in Kone area was vandalised by unidentified notorious elements, police sources said here on Wednesday.
Police sources said the incident took place on Tuesday night when notorious elements vandalised the statue of Dr Ambedkar installed in Ramgarh Bazar Gram Panchayat. “The incident came to the fore on Wednesday morning when the villagers came out of their houses. Agitated by the incident the locals gathered on the spot demanding action against the culprits and to install a new statue,” they said.
Circle Officer Obra Shankar Prasad reached the spot and assured the villagers that action will be taken against the culprits and a new statue will be installed immediately.
The CO said on a complaint a case has been lodged against unidentified persons and efforts were being made to identify them. “A new statue of Dr Ambedkar is being brought and it will be unveiled as per the rules,” he said.
