Violation of Rera Act in Pune | 10, 561 illegal documents registered in Pune district; Wagholi and Hadapsar top the list
Pune : Policenama online – Violation of Rera Act in Pune | A probe has revealed that illegal registration of buying and selling of properties by violating RERA Act and Fragementation Laws has been reported in Pune district. Since there are many vacancies in the Department of Registration and Stamp Duty, the powers of sub registrar have been given to clerks and senior clerks. The property developers in connivance with some officials, have got 10,561 illegal documents registered. The maximum cases have been reported from Wagholi and Hadapsar.
A committee appointed by the state government carried out an examination and checked suspected illegal documents in all 27 sub registrar offices. Of that, 70 per cent documents have not been registered with RERA and 30 per cent documents have been registered by violating RERA Act.
“When this episode came to light in 2019, 44 officers and four staff were suspended. Some other officials and staff were suspended and a departmental inquiry was started. Some officials will be transferred and a departmental probe will be started and an explanation has been sought from some others. Class 2 officials’ inquiry will be carried out by inquiry officers and the inquiry of clerks will be held at the level of stamp and registration department,” said Stamp Duty and Registration Department’s Deputy Inspector General Govind Karad.
If a plot is bigger than 500 sq metres or if eight flats are on sale, the project should be compulsorily registered with RERA. But, some builders have submitted possession receipts and an ownership document given by gram panchayat (8-D) and registered the document without registering it with RERA. The incident came to light because one builder’s name was found in documents of many flats.
