Washim police | Main accused in jewellery shop robbery case arrested by Washim police; gold worth Rs 2.4 lakh recovered

Washim : The Washim police have arrested the main accused in a robbery case and recovered 53.8 gm gold worth Rs 2.4 lakh, two country-made guns and seven rounds of ammunition.
On December 21, a gang of dacoits had attacked the owner of Anjankar Jewellers Yogesh Anjankar and his employee Ravindra Valekar and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 9 lakh and cash of Rs 9,000.
A case was registered at Malegaon police station and SP Bachchan Singh had formed six teams to solve the case and find the accused.
The Malegaon police on Friday detained one of the accused, Ajabrao Babanrao Ghughe and he revealed the involvement of more people in the crime.
Ajabrao Ghughe had taken a loan of Rs 12 lakh to set up a poultry farm and he had failed to repay it. He had mortgaged some gold ornaments and taken Rs 60,000. He made a plan with others to rob the jewellery shop.
The police are checking criminal records of the accused and probing if they are involved in other crimes. The police are trying to trace some of the accused who are absconding.

On 21st dec night 9pm approx, a gang of dacoits had attacked the owner of Anjankar Jewelers Yogesh Anjankar and his worker Ravindra Valekar. Ravindra Valekar, originally from Chikali succumbed to the injuries while Yogesh Anjankar was severely injured. Dacoits had fired two shots and ran away with gold worth 9 lacs and cash of rs 9000. Accordingly an offence number 522/2021 u/s IPC 396, 397 was registered at Malegaon PS.
Senior officers including the SP Bachchan Singh, Additional SP Gorakh Bhamre, SDPO Washim had visited the incident spot on the same night. Due to the gravity of this heinous offence, SP Bachchan Singh formed 6 various teams of PS Malegaon as well as Local Crime Branch to detect the case and was taking regular review. While investigation, it came to light that one of the bike Honda Shine, MH37K7026 which was found at spot, was stolen the same day from Tiwali village, Shirpur police station jurisdisction. All the teams while working together, yesterday PS Malegaon detained one accused Ajabrao Babanrao Ghughe, r/o sukanda, Malegaon) who had stolen the bike. He named few more accomplices. Apart from this, two desi katta and 7 rounds used in this heinous crime are also recovered. Moreover a recovery of 53.8 gms gold worth 2.4 L has also been made.
The prima-facie motive of the crime appears to be the debt of 12 Lacs which Ajabrao Babanrao Ghughe had taken for setting up of a poultry farm, and he failed to repay it. He used to frequent Anjankar jewellers and taken some mortgage of rs 60,000 against gold. Thus he hatched the plan alongwith other accused to rob Anjankar Jewelers.
Various teams are formed to apprehend the absconding accused. Also, the criminal records of these accused is being checked, and also their involvement in other crimes is also being verified.
‘Efforts to apprehend the absconders is going on. We will take strictest action in this matter, and submit a robust chargesheet to ensure maximum punishment for the accused. Also, the patrolling in the saraffa lanes have been intensified and urge the jewellers to make efforts towards enhancing the security related equipment like cctv, burglar alarms in their shops. ’ SP Bachchan Singh added.
