Pune : Policenama onlinePune News | While India is moving towards digital media, the officials of the District Information Office in Pune have denied passes to digital media in Pune. There is displeasure over this in digital media. (Pune News)

Sharad Lonkar, a member of ‘Digital Media Editor Journalist Association’, has given a petition in this regard to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Collector Rajesh Deshmukh, the District Information Officer. It said that under the guidance of PM Narendra Modi, Digital India is now becoming empowered. Earlier, when Rajendra Sarag was District Information Officer in Pune, digital media was well encouraged and supported. It is regrettable to mention that after him, the situation is no longer the same.

In the previously held Vidhan Sabha, Lok Sabha elections, passes were given to digital media in connection with voting, counting of votes and from time to time at the government level and at the level of the Election Commission. Kasba Peth and Chindhwad bypoll elections are being held soon. The district information office had called for photos and passes for voting and counting passes in this election.

However, today the office said that the passes were denied to digital media. No reason has been given for this. We should not treat digital media in this way. Necessary criteria must be set if desired, but digital media should be supported for reporting. To strengthen digital media in Digital India envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sharad Lonkar has expressed the hope that they won’t disappoint.
