Pune: Policenama online  – Pune Crime News | A woman was relieved of cash and gold worth Rs 84,000 by a gang of imposters who posed as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths and news reporters. They pretended to have raided her house and threatened to book the woman under the prostitution charge. (Pune Crime News)

A 40-year-old woman residing in a housing society in Dhankawadi lodged a complaint with the Sahakar Nagar police station, following which 10 people, including Seema Shashikant Shinde (30), resident of Upper Indira Nagar, her friend, Archana Naidu and four other women and three men, have been booked. The incident took place at a housing society in Dhankawadi between 9.30 pm and 11.45 pm on February 25, 2023

According to the police, the gang arrived at the complainant’s home. They told her that they were from ACB and news reporters. They beat up the complainant, her children and niece. They threatened to book her for running a sex racket. They also took away cash amounting to Rs 14,000 and 19-gm gold worth Rs 70,000.

The complainant thought it was a raid by the ACB. When enquired with the police, they told her that the ACB does not conduct such raids.

The complainant’s son had seen Seema Shinde, their acquaintance, standing outside their house when the incident was taking place. Following a police investigation, it was revealed that Shinde had planned this fake raid, along with her accomplices.

The police are searching for the accused and API Shede is investigating the case.
