Ahmedabad : Kankaria Carnival CANCELED for this year, 2840 active Corona cases in city

Ahmedabad: The Kankaria Carnival, the biggest event of the end of December in Ahmedabad, will not be held this time. In the midst of the Corona epidemic, the AMC has decided that the AMC will not be organizing the Kankaria Carnival this time in view of the Corona transition.

An official announcement by Mayor Bijal Patel said the transition of corona has increased and the state government has been instructed to not let the people gather in crowds as per the guideline. The Kankaria Carnival on the occasion of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary in Ahmedabad city will not be held amidst the epidemic.

Opposition Congress leader Kamlabahen Chavda also demanded that the Kankaria Carnival should not be held amid the corona epidemic. It may be recalled that the Kankaria Carnival was started for Ahmedabadis by the then CM Narendra Modi in 2008. This tradition has been going on for the last 12 years but this time it will be broken due to corona.

The Kankaria Carnival is being held on the last seven days of December, i.e. from December 25 to December 31, to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. An estimated 22 to 25 lakh people attend the carnival. But this time different guidelines have been issued by the government to prevent people from gathering amid the Corona epidemic. Under which the Kankaria Carnival of 2020 has been canceled.
