Policenama Online: : In times when Hindu-Muslim polarisation is on way to its peak, a Muslim youth in Assam has broken all the barriers to save life of a Hindu youth, setting an example for all to follow in these tumultuous times.

Proving that there is no religion greater than humanity, Panullah Ahmed broke his Roza (ritualistic fast during the month of Ramzan) to donate blood to a Hindu man saving his life.

Ahmed is a resident of Mangaldoi, and runs a Facebook page related to blood donation along with his friend Tapash Bhagwati. He received a phone call through the page, that a patient undergoing surgery to get his tumour removed was in need of blood.

While Ahmed and Bhagwati tried to find a suitable donor with the required blood type B+, they could not find one. As time was running out, Ahmed decided to step up, and do the deed himself.

With guidance from the seniors in the community, he was assured that humanity is the greatest virtue of all, and so he broke his fast. After a full meal, he donated his blood, and saved the patient’s life.

Ahmed and Bhagwati, both work at a hospital, and have appealed to all with good health to donate their blood. Through his actions in the pious month of Ramzan, Ahmed has sent an inspiring message of goodwill and humanity to all.
