Policenama Online – Heavy rains battered large part of the country and situation grim in flood-hit parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra, more than 2.5 lakhs have been evacuated, while several rivers were in spate Andhra Pradesh.

Sixteen death in rain and flood- related incidents have been reported from western Maharashtra in the last seven days, while the toll in Karnataka rose to five since Sunday and 26,000 people have been evacuated.

Jagmohan Meena, Superintendent Of Police, Malkangiri: Villages Majhiguda & Kenduguda of Khairaput area have been cut off after a portion of a road was washed away due to incessant rain. 5 people, including 2 pregnant women & 2 children were rescued from the area. (7.8.19)

Worst Situation in Maharashtra: Floodgates were opened in the dams in Maharashtra and barrages and reservoirs in Karnataka, where roads and rail links remain hit by incessant monsoon rains. Nearly 2.5 lakh people have been evacuated in Sangli, Kolhapur and Pune. District administration has warned people against travelling on the Mumbai-Bengaluru national highway.

Delhi: The national capital witnessed a humid day, with the mercury settling at 35.5 degree Celsius. According to the Safdarjung observatory official data, capital received 22.2 mm rainfall.

Three died in Uttar Pradesh: Three people died in lightning strike in Hardoi, while one person died in Gorakhpur, a state government’s spokesperson said. Lucknow recorded 32.6 mm rainfall and the maximum temperature in the city settled at 34.3degrees Celsius.

Rajasthan: Parts of Kota and Bundi district received moderate to heavy rains, in one of the incident a man was swept away in bundi district.

Also the Met department has issued warning of heavy rainfall in some parts of the state in coming days.
