Jehangir hospital fined for Rs 1 lakh by FDA

Policenama Online Pune: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Jehangir Hospital after bloody cotton swabs were found in a patient’s soup here. The hospital has also been served notice to take care of the problems spotted at the canteen during inspection by the FDA.

In a shocking incident, a patient admitted to the hospital was served soup that had cotton swabs with blood stains on it. The patient’s relatives uploaded a video of the same on social media the same day causing a ro amongst patients and others.

The soup was prepared in the hospital canteen which also raised concerns about the quality of food being served to the patients by the hospital.

Mohammadwadi resident Mahesh Satpute had registered a complaint with the FDA in this regard, following which there was inspection at the canteen in the hospital.

Among others, it was also found out that the patients as well as those working in the canteen use the same washroom.

In a hearing conducted on Wednesday, the hospital fined for Rs 1 lakh.
