Onions will make you cry: 150 rupees kg ?

Mumbai: Policenama Online –  onion will make us cry by the rise in the prices of onions. Due to heavy and unfavorable rains, onions were destroyed and so the prices have fluctuated to 150 rupees kg.
It is also said that the prices may increase due to late and heavy rain. A large number of onions are produced in Nahsik and Jalgaon but the production was destroyed because of the unfavorable rains. This has disturbed the income of farmers and the prices have onions and many other vegetables have increased. Due to rains, the onion prices crossed the rates of 100 rupees which has also become difficult for not only the farmers but also the buyers. It has become very difficult for buyers to buy so expensive onions.
Onions are produced in more numbers in Northern Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Due to heavy rains, the onions are destroyed but in Mumbai 50 to 60 trucks of onions arrive. But the quality of onions not good so the want of onions is 90 to 100 trucks of onions. In wholesale markets, the rate is 50 to 60 rupees from 15 November and then from 27 November  80 to 100 rupees.
