Be careful if you have booked Ola electric scooter: Customer cheated of Rs 1.34 lakh under the guise of delivery of scooter
Pune : Policenama online – Pune Crime | The Ola Electric Company has introduced an electric bike in the market. The company has made arrangements for its online booking. Cyber crooks from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh cheated a customer who had booked an electric scooter of Rs 1 lakh 34 thousand under the guise of delivery charges. (Pune Crime)
A 40-year-old resident of Ambegaon Pathar has lodged a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. Accordingly, the police have filed an FIR against Ghulam Elias.
According to the police, the complainant had booked an Ola electric scooter by paying Rs 499 last September. He received a call on January 21. The person told the complainant that he was speaking from the Ola company and he wanted to give delivery of the scooter. He sent the bill on WhatsApp and asked the complainant to pay the remaining charges. He was sent an account number of the Bandhan Bank’s Madhuban branch.
The complainant transferred Rs one lakh 19 thousand 500 to the Bandhan Bank’s account via NEFT. He sent the receipt of payment by WhatsApp. He received another call the next day. He was told to pay Rs 14,700 as insurance and registration charges. The complainant paid the money.
The complainant called the accused but he did not take the call. Since he did not get the delivery of the scooter even after many days, he smelt a rat and he lodged a complaint at the Cyber police station.
The cyber police carried out a probe and they found that the mobile belonged to Ghulam Elias from Uttar Pradesh and the bank account belonged to HR Trading and it was not connected with the Ola company.
A new trend has started wherein the information of those who had booked Ola scooters is collected and they are contacted and duped of their money. Many people have made online bookings for Ola electric vehicles. The booking is much more than the production capacity of the company.
Cyber crooks have started cheating people who have booked Ola scooters and those who have booked Ola electric scooter should be careful while dealing with anyone claiming to be from the company.
