Pune : Policenama onlinePune crime |  Five members of a caste panchayat have been booked for issuing a diktat to the community members to boycott a man and his family as his son had married a girl outside their community.

 

An offence has been registered at the Dattawadi police station. The incident took place in the hall of Muktangan School, Aranyeshwar, Gawliwada at around 7.30 pm on November 27, 2021.

 

The accused have been identified as Arjun Ramchandra Jangawali, Haribhau Hiranvale, Chandrakant alias Balu Aurange and two others. They have been booked under the Social Exclusion Act.

 

Ramchandra Bhausaheb Pangudwale (69), a resident of Khadki, lodged a complaint in this regard. According to the police, the son of the complainant’s relative Sanjay Nayku was to get engaged. The complainant was attending the engagement ceremony at the school hall on invitation by Nayku and the community.

 

The accused panchas of the caste panchayat were also present. The accused objected to the complainant’s presence in the ceremony saying his son had married outside the caste and his family had been socially boycotted, stated the complaint.

 

Further investigation in the case are going on under the guidance of Sinhagad road division ACP Sunil Pawar and Senior PI Krishna Indalkar. PSI Nikalje is investigating the matter.
