Pune : A class four staff working at the Jumbo Covid Center staged a protest at the COEP ground. Jumbo Covid Hospital, which has been stuck in controversy since the beginning, is again facing difficulties.
The Jumbo Covid Hospital has been set up in collaboration with the state government and the municipality to treat Corona patients. The hospital opened three months ago. Initially, Lifeline was given the responsibility of management. But due to poor planning, the work of this organization was stopped in just eight days and another organization was appointed.
After this, the system worked properly for a few days. But as the number of patients began to decline, so did the problems of salary from doctors to the cleaners started. Some doctors quit their jobs because they did not get paid on time. So on other staff, pressure techniques were started to make them work at lower wages. Similarly, as the salary for the month of October has not been paid yet, the warden, cleaners and body packing staff started demanding salary. As many as 70 to 80 employees were fired for asking their salaries before the start of Diwali. This infuriated the staff. They protested this evening. The employees had sat outside the hospital demanding the pay for the work done in October and November till date. But even that was ignored by the administration. The workers said they would protest again tomorrow morning.
