Pune police detain Bandyatatya Karadkar, warkaries firm on decision

Policenama | Bandyatatya Karadkar, president Vyasanmukta Yuvak Sangha and warkari leader on Saturday detained by police as he flouts the Corona-19 guidelines issued by the state government for this year’s wari.

Considering pandemic since last two years the annual palkhi procession where warkaries walk from Dehu and Alandi to Pandharpur is not allowed. However, the state government has provided 20 buses for the limited number of warkaries and the padukas of Sant Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar to travel to Pandharpur.

However, in spite of no permission, Bandyatatya Kardkar decided to walk between the Alandi and Pandharpur along with some warkaries. Today morning some warkaries started the pilgrimage against the guidelines and were stopped by the police.

Following this, Bandatatya Karadkar intervein the police action. Considering the situation he was detained by the police.

Now, these selected warkaries are firm on their decision to complete the procession by walking. According to them, they have begun the wari and now they can’t back out. They said that they will complete the wari by maintaining the desire distance between warkaries.

They also cited various incidents where Covid-19 restrictions were flouted. and told that they will be continuing their pilgrimage from tomorrow.
