Pune | Two clerks of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation arrested by ACB while accepting bribe

Pune :  Policenama online Pune |  The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested two clerks working at Thergaon tax collection office of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation for accepting a bribe on Friday.

The clerks have been identified as Pradeep Shantaram Kothavade (39) and Haibati Vitthal More (51).

A twenty-four-year-old man has registered a complaint with the ACB. The complainant has a real estate business. He gives flats, shops and offices on rent and also prepares rent agreements and does the work of transfer of properties.

He had gone to meet Kothavade and More in D regional office’s tax department. They demanded a bribe to change the name of a person in an official document.

Kothavade demanded a bribe of Rs 5,500 and More demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000. Since the complainant did not want to pay a bribe, he approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.

Pune ACB carried out a probe and it became evident that they had sought a bribe. ACB officials laid a trap and arrested both of them on Friday evening.

The action was taken by a team under the guidance of Pune ACB SP Rajesh Bansode and Additional SP Suraj Gurav. Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijaymala Pawar is carrying out further investigation.
