Pune: A minor girl from the Wanwadi area was found pregnant on Thursday. In this regard, a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered against the accused at Wanwadi police station for forceful sexual exploitation of the minor.

The victim girl is a resident of Lullanagar, Wanwadi. After the girl was found pregnant on Thursday, February 15, she reported the incident of sexual assault that she encountered six months ago. On the basis of her complaint, Wanwadi police registered a case under IPC 376 and the POCSO Act against Mukesh Kumar Mukhia, a resident of Defence Colony, Lullanagar, Wanwadi.

The accused and the victim girl are known to each other as they reside in the same area. As per the police complaint, six months ago, the girl was playing with her friends in the park near her house. While playing football, when her ball went into the bushes of nearby ground, the accused went to fetch the ball.

However, to her unfortune, the accused sat in the bush, dragged the victim girl into the bush, and sexually assaulted her against her will. He further threatened her against saying this incident to anybody. Fearing the shame and embarrassment, the accused did not tell anyone about it.

However, on Thursday morning, the girl was found pregnant. After the in-depth interrogation, it was learned that the accused raped her in spite of having a full idea of the girl being underage. Accordingly, Wanwadi police booked the accused under appropriate charges of the IPC and POCSO Act and initiated the investigation into the case under the charge of female assistant police inspector Jadhav.
